Once again Real Madrid are
leading the charge on the goal front, with Raúl topping the cup Pichichi
table after scoring his sixth midweek in that competition (he also has one in
the Supercup), and Ronaldo taking his tally for the season to 25 at the weekend
despite missing the cup match with gastric enteritis. Madrid are being matched
by Valencia in the league though, both sides having scored 45 in 23 games, and
Mista gave another reminder to Iñaki Sáez with two more at the
weekend.
The Spanish manager has some
hard decisions to make for the upcoming friendly international against Peru,
with Raúl, Mista, Salva and Fernando Torres all high in the goalscoring
table, Luque also getting his name on the scoresheet this weekend and ex under
21 international David Villa scoring twice as well, the second a last minute
penalty to beat Real Sociedad. And that's not taking into account Fernando
Morientes, who is apparently in line for a recall after playing well for
Monaco.
The South American foreign
legion also figured prominently this weekend, with Sonny Anderson, Baptista,
Saviola and Ronaldinho all scoring for their sides. Ronaldinho's was
undoubtedly the pick of the bunch though as Barcelona finally made it back into
the Champions' League spots. Milosevic topped them all though, with two goals
to give Radomir Antic his first win at Celta. (09.02.04) |
