Pichichis

Real Madrid clicked back into gear this week, scoring no less than nine goals in their two games in Europe and in the league. Ronaldo had of course a lot to do with it, and he returned from injury to get one against Monaco and two more on Sunday against Sevilla, sending out a reminder to anyone who might have forgotten that he is around. Figo also returns to our chart this week after scoring in the midweek game.

Pandiani is also a man on form, and he appeared to have set Deportivo on their way to a repeat of their win at Juventus when he scored early on against AC Milan. Any similarity with the previous game was mere coincidence however as the Italians hit them for four from then on. "The rifle" scored again at the weekend, but this time with more luck as his side beat Real Sociedad to move back up to third in the table.

Perhaps the best performance over two games this week though was from Valencia's Vicente, who scored a rare "silver goal" to keep them in the UEFA cup (Mista had levelled the tie earlier on) and then got two and made a third against Racing to take his side, momentarily at least, to the top of the table.

Sonny Anderson also got. a vital goal for Villarreal to knock Roma out of the UEFA cup, and Baptista returned from injury to score a consolation penalty against Real Madrid. Elsewhere Espanyol's Tamudo got two at the weekend, the second from the penalty spot, to keep the Catalans on track for a possible escape from what looked like certain relegation only a couple of months ago.
