Pichichis

A long wait for the second day of the new season, but with the international fixtures now out of the way there was a return to club football this weekend. No doubt about who the men of the weekend were, Maxi hitting a hat-trick as Espanyol thrashed Betis 1-4 in their own stadium, and Milosevic getting two as Osasuna cancelled out Pandiani's early strike to beat Deportivo 1-3, also away from home. Fernando Torres tops our Pichichi table though after getting his fourth of the season in all competitions and then setting up Ibagaza for another to give Atlético their second win in a row. César Ferrando's side are joint leaders with Barcelona, for whom Giuly got his second goal in as many games. Di Vaio also comes into our chart for the first time after scoring against Bilbao, although his goal probably should not have counted as he controlled the ball with his arm before scoring.
