European competitions
resumed this week, with no less than eight Spanish teams in action between
Champions League and UEFA Cup. On Tuesday, Giuly added to his total as
Rijkaard's impressive Barcelona won at Celtic, and Baraja got his third of the
season as Valencia cruised to a win against Anderlecht. And on Thursday "the
beast" Baptista got his campaign on the road with a goal against Nacional,
adding two more at the weekend to prove that his feats of last season were not
just a flash in the pan.
The goals finally started to
flow at the weekend after a slow start in the first two days, with our top
four, Fernando Torres, Sonny Anderson, Maxi and Milosevic all getting their
names on the scoresheet again. So too did Pandiani, now up to fifth place, and
there were braces for Valencia's new signing Di Vaio and for one of the
forgotten men of football, Zaragoza's Javi Moreno. (20.09.04) |
