Another round of European
matches midweek, with the eight Spanish sides scoring 18 goals between them
between Champions' League and UEFA cup. Eto'o got his first European goal as
Barcelona recorded their second win in a row, and Vicente scored again in a
match in which Valencia were winning until they had a man sent off. Raúl
got two the next day making it three in a week, proving that neither he nor
Real Madrid should be written off just yet. And on Thursday Javi Moreno helped
Zaragoza to an exciting come back on a day in which all four La Liga clubs
qualified for the group stage.
A very quiet weekend in the
league though, with only 16 goals scored in the ten matches. Three of those
came from one player, Getafe's Pachón making a name for himself after
getting a hat-trick against Athletic Bilbao. It wasn't his best ever haul
though, and many will remember the five goals he scored at Tenerife on the last
day of last season to secure promotion for his side. Elsewhere Di Vaio helped
Valencia earn a point at Betis with his fifth league goal and Larsson got the
winner for Barcelona the following day which took them above their rivals.
Manchev got his name on the scoresheet again for Levante, his fourth in the
league to date. (04.10.04) |
