Pichichis

A bad week for Spanish clubs in the Champions' League, with the four participants only getting two goals between them and Real Madrid the only side to win thanks to Michael Owen's first goal for his club. The English striker got another at the weekend to give his side their fourth 1-0 victory of the season. Things improved on Thursday though in the UEFA cup, with Athletic and Villarreal getting revenge against Italian sides after the two Milan's beat Barcelona and Valencia the day before, and David Villa on target twice to give Zaragoza a first win in the new league stage of the competition.

Samuel Eto'o moved clear at the top of our table with two more goals at the weekend to take his tally to eight in all competitions. Otherwise though it was low scoring round of matches, with only Baptista getting his name on the scoresheet from our top strikers. Three new names enter our chart this week though, with Forlán and Héctor Font helping to make life more bearable for the Villarreal fans after Sonny Anderson left for Qatar to pay for his expensive divorce, and ex Manchester City striker Wanchope shaking off a bout of gastric enteritis to get his fourth of the season for Málaga.
