Pichichis

Samuel Eto'o is racing ahead of the pack this season, and he scored one in Europe against AC Milan and another at the weekend against Deportivo to open the gap to three goals over the chasing pack. One Madrid based sports paper pointed out on Sunday morning that the Camerooni striker had scored more himself in the league than the whole of his his ex team Real Madrid had done, although by Sunday evening that was no longer true thanks to a hotly disputed Figo penalty and another goal from Michael Owen, who came on as substitute to score his fifth in six games.

Baptista also added to his tally from the penalty spot as Sevilla started off the league phase of the UEFA cup with a victory against Aachen. The Brazilian striker did get another at the weekend as well, although that didn't count to the Pichichi rankings as it was in his own net! Elsewhere Maxi came back into Espanyol's side and staked a claim for a more regular place with two goals against Real Sociedad, and Savio gave Zaragoza a best possible start with a goal at Atlético within two minutes of the kick off.
