Disappointment in the
Champions' League this week, with three out of the four Spanish sides failing
to score, and Deportivo in particular ending up with the humiliating record of
being the first club not to get a single goal in the six games of the league
stage. Only Real Madrid troubled the scoreboard operators, with Ronaldo
starting things off and Figo getting two (including one from the penalty spot)
as their side beat Roma to make it through to the knockout stage. Ronaldo got
another at the weekend against Real Sociedad before the match was abandoned due
to a bomb scare to move up to third in the table, behind Eto'o (who didn't
score this week) and "the beast" Julio Baptista, who banged another in at the
last minute against Depor. Baptista's rival from across town, fellow Brazilian
team mate Oliveira, kept up his good form with another against Racing, and his
colleague Edu (another Brazilian) also joined him this week on the scoresheet.
Villarreal's Guayre also enters our chart this week after getting his sixth of
the season, and his goals are helping the fans forget Sonny Anderson.
