Pichichis

Lots of goals to end the year, the 31 scored in the midweek round of games the second highest total of the season. Eto'o ends 2004 as our leading Pichichi, his late goal against Levante enough to ensure that Barcelona win the honorary title of winter champions when the midpoint arrives in two weeks' time. Baptista is only three behind him though after sinking Real Madrid in the Bernabeu, and Ezquerro got his sixth in a week to move up to third in our chart. David Villa got his first league goal in two months as Zaragoza won at Depor, and Guayre and Diego Forlán both scored in Villarreal's draw at Albacete. There were two each as well for Nihat in Real Sociedad's 1-5 drubbing of Málaga, and for Osasuna's Chengue Morales, who is breaking club records with his seventh goal in as many games. And Yeste, Deco, Luque, Kovacevic and Baraja are all hovering just outside of our table after getting their sixth goals of the season in all competitions. (24.12.04)
