A great week for Fernando
Torres, even though it was not so good in the end for his side. On Wednesday
the young striker won a penalty and converted it himself to take
Atlético Madrid through to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. And on
Sunday he appeared to have won the league match against Villarreal single
handedly when he burst through twice in the first half to give his side a
commanding two goal lead. However his opponents had other ideas, Diego
Forlán getting his fifteenth of the season as they came back to win 3-2
in the last minute.
Eto'o still tops our table
though after getting his name on the scoresheet against Mallorca, although to
be honest he didn't know too much about it. The Camerooni striker was hit on
the leg by Deco's shot, deflecting the ball enough to put off Mallorca keeper
Moyà. Most reporters actually gave the goal to Deco (who scored again
later in the game), but the referee decided it was Eto'o's goal and there we
stand.
The only other of our
Pichichis to add to his tally in a low scoring week was Di Vaio, his goal in
the UEFA Cup third round tie against Steaua Bucharest helping to give Valencia
a healthy lead for the second leg, and taking some of the pressure off manager
Ranieri. (21.02.05) |
