Samuel Eto'o goes off to the
Africa Cup this week without scoring for the first time in five weeks, although
he has built up a considerable lead over his nearest rivals and should still be
well ahead when he returns from international duty in three or four weeks'
time. The two players nearest to him were both on the scoresheet this weekend,
his team mate Ronaldinho getting his seventh penalty of the season as Barcelona
came back to beat Athletic Bilbao, and Valencia's David Villa getting one of
his side's goals against Osasuna.
Curiously only one club
other than Barcelona has three players in our chart this week, and that is the
unfancied Getafe. Riki joins Güiza and Paunovic in the table after scoring
twice in the cup at Espanyol, and more than one premier league club is watching
him. Zaragoza's dynamic duo were also in action again, Ewerthon getting the
goal in the cup which sealed the fate of Atlético Madrid coach Carlos
Bianchi, and Diego Milito scoring twice as his side beat Mallorca in the
league. And finally Tamudo has finally found his scoring boots, his last minute
goal giving Espanyol a much needed victory at Real Sociedad. (16.01.06)
