Neither Eto'o nor Villa were
on the scoresheet this weekend, even though Barça hit five and Valencia
two. Ronaldinho, Larsson and Messi did all add to their tallies, although the
highest scorer of the match was Melli with two own goals (which all the leading
papers counted as such, even though the one that came off his bum was awarded
to Ronaldinho by the referee)!
Real Madrid came within a
goal of an epic come back as they beat Zaragoza 4-0 in the cup semi-final
midweek,. Robinho and Ronaldo were both on target as the Galacticos scored
three times in the first ten minutes, but they couldn't get the one they needed
in the end to turn around the 6-1 result from the first leg. Meanwhile the UEFA
Cup returned, with both Sevilla sides winning but Espanyol going down to
Schalke despite a goal from Luis García.
Robinho scored again at the
weekend in a comfortable 3-0 win over Alavés, although perhaps the best
news of the night for Madrid (and for Spain) was the return of Raúl
after a 90 day lay off for injury. Meanwhile Madrid's nightmare man Diego
Milito added to his tally as Zaragoza took a point at Deportivo.
Atlético Madrid are
closing in on the European spots after a 0-3 victory at neighbours Getafe made
it five wins in a row for the Colchoneros. Maxi and Fernando Torres got two of
the goals on a pitch which was covered in white hailstones. They still have a
long way to go though to catch Osasuna, who beat Cádiz 1-3 with another
strike from Milosevic to consolidate fourth spot. (20.02.06) |
