Another low scoring week,
starting with the midweek games where the cup semi-final between Deportivo and
Espanyol ended without goals, and the UEFA Cup where Betis couldn't find the
net even once in 180 minutes against Steaua Bucharest. Their city neighbours
Sevilla did win through though, strikes from Kanouté and Luis Fabiano
giving them victory over Lille.
For the second weekend in a
row only 20 goals were scored in the first division, and it could have been
worse had the match between Espanyol and Osasuna not ended 2-4. Goals from
Tamudo and Luis García were of little use as the Pamplona based side
over-ran them, Milosevic in particular adding to his tally once again. Our top
scorer Samuel Eto'o was on target though, as was his team mate Larsson (in his
case for the fifth game in a row) as Barça extended their lead at the
top of the table with a win at Real Sociedad.
Eto'o stays four ahead of
David Villa, who got a consolation goal for Valencia in their defeat in
Santander. Ewerthon stays fifth in our chart after getting a last minute winner
at Málaga, and Diego Forlán and Fernando Torres were both on the
scoresheet as Villarreal and Atlético drew 1-1. There was the same score
as well between Sevilla and Mallorca, where Saviola's strike was cancelled out
by a second half goal from Okubo. (20.03.06) |
