With the exception of the
racist insults from a bunch of sub-humans at Santander who continue to give a
bad name to Spanish football, it was a good week for Samuel Eto'o. The
Cameroonian striker scored midweek to help Barcelona beat Benfica and reach the
semi-finals of the Champions League, and then got another at the weekend at the
Sardinero stadium to keep Frank Rijkaard's side eleven points clear at the top
of the table. Eto'o was ably assisted by strikes from Ronaldinho in the first
match and Larsson in the second.
Ronaldo proved once again
that he is recovering his form prior to the World Cup with his fourth goal in
as many games and his hundredth in a Real Madrid shirt, although he will now
have to sit it out for three or four weeks or so after picking up an injury
later on in the match against Real Sociedad. He could therefore be overtaken as
the city of Madrid's top goalscorer by Getafe's Paunovic, who got two more at
Málaga to add to the four he scored in the last couple of away games. It
seems that the ex Atlético / Mallorca / Tenerife etc. veteran is
discovering late in his career that he is actually a forward and not a
midfielder! Paunovic's fellow countryman Milosevic was also on the scoresheet
this weekend as Osasuna won at Alavés to challenge Valencia and Madrid
for second spot, and he returns to our chart once again. (10.04.06)
