In this low scoring month,
the Spanish cup final did at least produce some goals, with Espanyol running
out 4-1 winners over Zaragoza to take the trophy for the fourth time. Luis
García scored twice and Tamudo and Corominas got the others, with
Ewerthon's eighth goal in the competition scant reward for Víctor
Muñoz's side.
Back to reality in the
league, with the first four games of the weekend only producing two goals and
the final tally of 16 equalling the lowest mark of the season. Eto'o did get
one of them though to give Barcelona a 1-0 win over Villarreal and equal his 24
league goals from last season, He is still not assured of the Pichichi trophy
however as David Villa got on the scoresheet for Valencia with a first half
penalty against Espanyol to maintain the five goal gap. Elsewhere Fernando
Torres kept Atlético's hopes of a place in Europe alive with a late
strike against Athletic Bilbao. (17.04.06) |
