Once again very few goals in
Europe, even though results were positive for two out of Spain's three
remaining sides. A goal-less draw against AC Milan was enough to take Barcelona
through to the final of the Champions League, although the same scoreline
between Villarreal and Arsenal means that it is the English side who will be
facing the Catalans in the final later this month. A goal in extra time from
Antonio Puerta took Sevilla through to the final of the UEFA cup, where they
will meet another Premier League team, Middlesbrough.
It was a tale of penalties
at the weekend, with Samuel Eto'o missing one for Barcelona and David Villa
scoring one for Valencia to move up to within one goal of his rival. With three
games to go (four for Eto'o), the battle is on! Eto'o's team mate Ronaldinho
didn't miss when presented with a chance earlier in the match though, taking
Barça to the verge of their second league title in a row. Elsewhere
Ewerthon got his twentieth of the season to draw level with his colleague Diego
Milito, although his strike against Espanyol only earned a point for Zaragoza
in the end. (01.05.06) |
