A midweek round of league
matches, with Samuel Eto'o increasing the gap over David Villa to two goals
with the winning strike for Barcelona at Celta. His second half shot gave his
side the victory they needed to clinch the league title, although by then they
had won it anyway after Valencia fell to a 2-1 defeat at Mallorca, with Arango
getting one for the Balearic Islanders. Important strikes elsewhere as well,
with Robinho taking Real Madrid to second spot in the table, Saviola putting
Sevilla on their way to a place in Europe, Diego Tristán helping Depor
close up on the Intertoto spot after Luis García had given Espanyol the
lead, and Aloisi giving Alavés hope of escaping relegation. Only two
more games to go and it will all be over! (05.05.06) |
