What a week this has been!
First of all Spanish sides hit 16 goals between them in Europe midweek, and
there were another 27 in the league at the weekend. A spectacular start for
Barcelona and Valencia in the Champions League, goals from Eto'o, Ronaldinho,
Giuly, Iniesta and even Puyol giving Frank Rijkaard's side a crushing win over
Levski Sofia, and a Morientes hat-trick and another strike from Raúl
Albiol helped the Chés to a 2-4 victory at Olympiakos. Morientes has now
scored 30 goals in the European competition, and he moves to the top of our
chart this week. Real Madrid couldn't get off the mark against Lyon the
following day, but the four sides competing in the UEFA cup all got good
results away from home, with Kepa and Gustavo López amongst the names on
the scoresheets.
And so to the weekend, where
there were braces for Kanouté and Sobis in the Sevilla derby before
Renato won it with a late goal for the hosts. Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Giuly were
on target again for Barcelona at Racing, and Morientes added to his tally
against Getafe. Two goals as well for Deportivo left back Capdevila, filling
the gap left by the departing Diego Tristán and the injured Bodipo, and
Ewerthon returns to out table after getting one of Zaragoza's goals against
Mallorca. (18.09.06) |
