Ronaldinho continues to
follow in the footsteps of Rivaldo, his free kick underneath the defensive wall
setting Barcelona on their way to a classic victory over Werder Bremen and a
place in the last 16 of the Champions League. And the Brazilian star also had a
hand in the second goal, scored by Gudjohnsen. Valencia and Real Madrid were
already sure of qualifying, and they both put out depleted sides. Capello
rested Van Nistelrooy and gave a run out to his second choice centre forward, a
young lad by the name of..er..Ronaldo! The former Pichichi proved that he is
close to returning to his old form with two late goals to save a point and
300,000 in prize money for his side.
And so on to the league,
where three top Pichichis all scored, Ronaldinho and Kanouté (from the
penalty spot) on Saturday, and Diego Milito on Sunday (for those of you who
watch Sky's "revista de la liga" goal of the week competition, watch out for
Soccer-Spain's La Liga Shop prizes of their shirts for the competition
winners). Some other big names on the scoresheets this week as well, including
two for David Villa, who returned to the Valencia side after an injury, and one
each for Angulo, Baiano, Fernando Torres, Diego Forlán, Tamudo and Luis
García. (11.12.06) |
