Pichichis

We were all anxious for goals after the two week international lay off, and we only had to wait one minute before Diego Forlán started off what was to be the highest scoring weekend of the season. Forlán got a second later on in the 3-3 draw at Betis, and Villa, Angulo, Luis García, Messi and Eto'o all got their names on the scoresheet later on on Saturday evening. The biggest result of the season to date though came on Sunday, Racing Santander just pipping Athletic Bilbao 5-4 thanks to a late strike from Zigic, who had already scored earlier on in the game. Sinama-Pongolle and Portillo were both on target as Nàstic and Recre drew 1-1, Fernando Torres got his first goal in a month as Atlético shared the points with Mallorca, and Van Nistelrooy fired home another spot kick in answer to Capello's call for him to go for the Pichichi this season. All in all 35 goals, and it could have been more had the last match of the weekend between Osasuna and Sevilla not ended goal-less. (02.04.07)
