European competitions
returned this week, with Kanouté and Luis Fabiano on target as Sevilla
clocked up their first Champions League points against Slavia Prague, and Messi
scoring again as Barcelona won at Stuttgart. The following day Van Nistelrooy
got two as Real Madrid drew at Lazio, and David Villa scored for Valencia only
for Chelsea to overturn the result later on.
Good news for three of the
four Spanish sides in the UEFA cup, with Agüero getting two and
Forlán adding another as Atlético hit five at Erciyesspor.
Villarreal and Getafe won through their respective ties, the former more easily
than the latter, but goals by Sergio García and Oliveira were not enough
to save Zaragoza from being knocked out by Aris Salonica.
Another 27 goals at the
weekend in the league, with Messi drawing level with Agüero and moving to
within one of Kanouté after getting one of Barcelona's three against
Atlético. Oliveira got two and Van Nistelrooy one to take their
respective tallies to three this week, Arango scored twice for ten men Mallorca
to enter our chart for the first time this season, and Rossi and Luis
García were also on their sides' respective scoresheets this weekend.
