As usual, the Copa del Rey
plays second fiddle to all the other competitions involving Spanish clubs, and
nine of the sixteen games from the fourth round first leg were squeezed in
midweek before players went off on international duty. Most of the big teams
postponed their fixtures to December though, and the only one of our Pichichis
to get his name on the scoresheet was Barcelona's Henry in their 0-3 win at
Alcoyano.
Lots of goals at the weekend
on the return from international duty, the total tally of 34 the best of the
season to date. Not a lot of the usual suspects were on target though, although
Kanouté did get one for Sevilla in their 1-2 defeat against Mallorca,
and Messi rounded off Barcelona's 3-0 win over Recreativo with a penalty.
Elsewhere Robinho and Nihat proved their recent good form with goals in their
respective games against Murcia and Almería, and Maxi comes in to our
chart for the first time after scoring two in Atlético's last minute 4-3
victory over Valladolid. (26.11.07) |
