Pichichis

This week the goals came in the cup, with fifteen in all in the four quarter final second leg ties. Agüero's 17th of the season was not enough to save Atlético from elimination against Valencia, nor was Arango's header against Getafe. Henry's strike took Barcelona through though against Villarreal. and Tchité was one of Racing's three scorers as the Cantabrians knocked out Athletic Bilbao to reach the semi-final stage for the first time.

A low scoring weekend in the league though, the bad weather in Spain putting the dampers on any attempt at attractive football. Only 17 goals in all, although two of those were for the current Pichichi Luis Fabiano, who is outdistancing everybody by a mile this season. Milito didn't score this weekend but he did set up one for his Zaragoza team mate Oliveira, and Rossi got one of five penalties which were scored in the ten games. A return to goalscoring ways at last for David Villa as well, the Valencia striker getting his first league goal in almost three months. (04.02.08)
