Poor results for Spanish
sides as the UEFA Cup returned after the winter break, Getafe's De la Red the
only La Liga player as his side drew 1-1 at AEK Athens and Atlético
Madrid and Villarreal both lost 1-0 at Bolton and Zenit respectively. All three
will be at home though for next week's second legs.
Three league matches on
Saturday, with lots of goals to start us off. Luis Fabiano and Kanouté
were on target early on at Espanyol to increase their lead at the top of our
table, with Luis García getting one back as the Andalusians won 2-4. And
Real Madrid were brought down to Earth after scoring seven the week before, Edu
getting one of the goals as Betis beat them 2-1. Later in the evening Barcelona
won 1-2 at Zaragoza, Oliveira cancelling out Henry's earlier strike before
Ronaldinho converted a controversial late penalty.
"El Gaucho" comes back into
our chart, as does Negredo, who got his eighth of the season in
Almería's 1-0 win against Murcia. He is one of the candidates for the
"Zarra" trophy, which is given to the highest scoring Spanish player in La
Liga. At the moment the chart is topped by Raúl, Güiza and now
Llorente, who also scored his eleventh of the current campaign this weekend.
