Cup semi-finals midweek,
with Getafe and Valencia reaching the final after beating Racing Santander and
Barcelona respectively. Henry and Eto'o got the goals for the Blaugrana, but it
was not enough as Baraja got one and Mata two more to take Ronald Koeman's side
through.
Another 27 goals at the
weekend, with Valencia completing what was surely their best week of the season
after a 2-3 win against league leaders Real Madrid in the Bernabeu. David Villa
got two, including a penalty , to cancel out two more from Raúl, and
Arizmendi gave the Chés the win with his first goal in over a year.
Barcelona closed the gap at
the top to four points after a 4-1 win over Valladolid, youngster Bojan having
his best game since joining the first team squad, setting up Eto'o and Iniesta
and then getting two himself to take his tally to eight for the season.
Villarreal are still in the
title race though, Guille Franco coming on to score a late winner against
Levante. And Atlético Madrid consolidated fourth spot, Agüero
ensuring the three points after Maxi had opened the scoring, his ninth of the
season.
Elsewhere Oliveira and
Negredo scored in a 1-1 draw between Zaragoza and Almería, and Arango
got the only goal for Mallorca against Deportivo making him the club's second
top scorer in the first division behind Eto'o. His 37 are still though quite a
way off the Barcelona striker's 54 in the five years he was at the Balearic
Island side. (24.03.08) |
