Pichichis

The engravers can already start to etch out "Güiza" on this year's Pichichi trophy after the Mallorca striker got a late winner to overturn goals by Henry and Eto'o in the Nou Camp. His only rival Luis Fabiano did score against city rivals Betis, but he then picked up a tenth booking of the season and will consequently miss the last game of the season (subject of course to appeal). Güiza has already booked his ticket to the Euro 2008 finals, where he will be joined by David Villa, who proved his timely return to form with a hat-trick against city rivals Levante.

Probably the most important goal of the weekend though was Diego Forlán's strike which took Atlético Madrid in to the Champions League for the first time in 12 years. Oliveira's goal against Real Madrid was also vital for Zaragoza's survival in the top flight, although it was overturned by strikes from Van Nistelrooy and Robinho, and it was left to central defender Sergio Fernández to save them a point. We will know next weekend if it was enough. (12.05.08)
