With no Spanish teams left
in the UEFA Cup, this week's activities were concentrated on the weekend league
programme. The season's average of 2.94 goals per match is reportedly the
highest since 1962, and there were another 28 goals over the ten
games.
Sevilla's Kanouté
started things off on Saturday with a hat-trick against Valladolid to make it
ten in his last seven games, Luis Fabiano and Goitom the other scorers in a 4-1
victory for the Andalusians. And the following day Barcelona hit six against
Málaga, with two for Eto'o and one each for his fellow strikers Henry
and Messi. The three of them have scored no less than 80 goals between them
this campaign.
Elsewhere Mata got the
winner at Racing to take Valencia back in to the top six, and Soldado came to
the rescue of coach Víctor Muñoz with two against Recreativo. And
Barral got his twelfth of the season at Numancia, not enough to prevent a
defeat after Barkero had opened the scoring from the penalty spot for the
locals.(23.03.09) |
