Pichichis

The top three all won by a single goal as La Liga football returned after the international break, with Eto'o, Higuaín and Kanouté all on target for their respective sides. Valencia moved back in to the running for the Champions League spots with a 4-1 win over Getafe, Villa netting two penalties and Mata also on the scoresheet. But Diego Forlán's strike was not enough to prevent Atlético from falling to a 2-4 defeat against Osasuna, for whom Pandiani scored twice.

Negredo got one of Almería's three against Villarreal, and Zigic helped Racing to three points for the nth time this season. And another six goals in a 3-3 draw between Betis and Numancia, with Barkero converting his fourth penalty of the season after Sergio García had opened the scoring for the Andalusians. The Spanish international forward had to leave the field straight afterwards though after injuring himself in the goal celebration! (06.04.09)
