Barcelona completed the
formalities in their midweek Champions League quarter final, Keita getting the
goal in a 1-1 draw at Bayern Munich which saw them through 5-1 on aggregate.
Guardiola's side will be Spain's only representative in Europe at the
semi-final stage though after Villarreal were beaten 3-0 by Arsenal.
In previous seasons the 18
goals scored this weekend in the league was not an unusual tally, but in this
high scoring campaign it was the lowest in the 31 weeks to date. Messi still
got his name on the scoresheet though as Barcelona beat Getafe 0-1, with
Marcelo replying at Recreativo to keep Real Madrid in touch with the leaders.
David Villa netted a penalty against Sevilla (as did his team-mate Mata) to
stay in third spot in our chart, and Diego Forlán consolidated fourth
position with one of Atlético's three against Numancia.
Elsewhere Emaná
struck twice against Sporting to take Betis away from the danger zone, and
Negredo also notched up a brace against Osasuna to keep Almería level
with the Andalusians, despite Pandiani's intervention in-between. A quiet
weekend though, saving up for the midweek round of games in a couple of days'
time? (20.04.09) |
