Pichichis

David Villa is setting records for Spain, his two goals against Austria midweek taking him to 35, only nine now below Raúl's all time best. The Valencia forward was on target as well at the weekend, his early strike at Osasuna taking him to the top of our chart. There were goals as well for Agüero, Rossi, Higuaín and Diego Costa in a weekend in which 25 goals were scored in all. (23.11.09)

PS. The more astute amongst you will have spotted our (not so) deliberate mistake - we forgot to include the goals from the second leg of the cup! Maxi of course was the boy on form with four for Atlético against Marbella, but other goalscorers included Llorente and Javi Martínez (Athletic), Messi and Pedro (Barcelona), Soldado (Getafe), Luis Fabiano, Jesús Navas and Kanouté (all Sevilla) and Rossi (Villarreal).
