Sevilla are well on the way
to place in the semi-final of the cup after a 0-3 win at Deportivo, Spanish
internationals Negredo and Jesús Navas helping each other to two of the
goals. The other ties are more open, although it took a late goal by Pandiani
at Santander to keep Osasuna in with a chance. Second legs are next week.
Messi stays at the top of
our chart though after netting one of Barcelona's three at Valladolid, a result
which means the Catalans have remained unbeaten for the first half of the
season. Cristiano Ronaldo stepped back in to the spotlight with two well-taken
goals against Málaga the following day, although his sending off later
on (see villains section for more) means that he will return to the wings
(theatrically speaking that is) for a game or two. Elsewhere Nilmar and Rossi
were on target as Villarreal beat Zaragoza 4-2, and Negredo scored again
against his old side Almería. (25.01.10) |
