A promising start to the
mid-week round of games, with ten goals in the three matches played on Tuesday.
Real Madrid finally got going with three against Espanyol, forwards Ronaldo,
Higuaín and Benzema getting one apiece, and Tamudo's third goal in as
many games for Real Sociedad woke up the slumbering Osasuna, who got their
first three goals of the season. After that though there were only nine goals
in the remaining seven games, with a Barcelona side missing the injured Messi
(luckily just for a couple of games) only managing a single David Villa goal
against a Sporting Gijón team who they usually score a hat-full against.
In Messi's absence Nilmar moved to within a goal of him in our chart after
netting his fourth league goal this season, and Simao and Aduríz were on
target as Atlético Madrid and Valencia shared the points. Sevilla could
have joined Real Madrid and Valencia at the top of the table had they been able
to defend Negredo's early penalty against Racing Santander (the match finished
1-1), and Rondón got his second for his new club Málaga as they
surprised again with a 0-2 victory at Getafe. Two days' rest, and it all starts
again. (24.09.10) |
