Some massive scores in the
first leg of the fifth round of the cup at the end of the year, with Real
Madrid in particular crushing Levante 8-0. Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo helped
themselves to hat-tricks and Özil and Pedro León were also on
target as Mourinho's side confirmed that they will be going for everything this
season. Eight goals as well in the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium, where
Sevilla ran out 5-3 winners over Málaga. Two from Rondón gave the
visitors a momentary lead, but Alfaro and Negredo were amongst the scorers as
the home team turned things around in the end. And there were seven more in
Almería, where Ulloa completed a hat-trick to give the locals a 4-3
victory over Mallorca. The Argentinian striker is now top scorer in the cup
with six goals to date.
Ronaldo scored two more in
the league on Monday to draw level with Messi in our chart, and Özil also
netted as Real Madrid beat city neighbours Getafe 2-3. Messi himself didn't
feature at the weekend as Guardiola had given him an extended holiday, but
Pedro stepped in admirably to score both goals for Barcelona in a 2-1 win over
Levante. Elsewhere a Kanouté strike helped Sevilla to a 1-0 victory over
Osasuna, and Aduríz and Mata got the goals as Valencia beat Espanyol
2-1. Llorente's goal for Athletic Bilbao was mere consolation though as the
Basque side lost 1-2 to Deportivo, Adrián scoring twice for the
Galicians. (04.01.11) |
