Barcelona and Messi go
marching on! Guardiola's side made all but sure of a place in April's cup final
with a 5-0 win over Almería in the first leg of their semi-final, with
Messi scoring two and Villa, Pedro and Keita getting the rest. And at the
weekend they beat Hércules 0-3, with Messi netting another brace to take
his tally to an amazing 37 for the season. We shouldn't forget Pedro though,
the Spanish international scoring for the sixth league match in a row.
Barça's opponents in the final may well be old rivals Real Madrid after
they beat Sevilla 0-1 in their first leg, Benzema reacting to the signing of
Adebayor by scoring the only goal. Madrid lost 1-0 at Osasuna at the weekend
though to drop seven points behind Barcelona, and Villarreal are now only six
points behind them, Rossi confirming his great form with the winner at
Espanyol. Elsewhere Negredo scored two as Sevilla drew 3-3 at Deportivo, and
Caicedo got one of Levante's goals in a much needed 2-0 win against Getafe.
