Messi and Ronaldo are
neck-and-neck in the league Pichichi race after both helped their respective
sides to victories in the midweek round of games. Messi got the only goal in
the Mestalla stadium on Wednesday as Barcelona beat third placed Valencia 0-1,
and Ronaldo clocked up a another hat-trick the following day as Real Madrid
thrashed Málaga 7-0, Benzema also helping himself to two more. Ronaldo
limped off injured though after scoring the third, the first minutes he has
missed in the league all season, and he is likely to be out for 10 days or so
as a result. Elsewhere Rossi moved up to third in our chart with the only goal
in Villarreal's game against local rivals Hércules, Luis Fabiano (from
the penalty spot) and Negredo were on target as Sevilla beat Sporting 3-0, and
Llorente's early strike at Zaragoza was not enough to save a 2-1 defeat for
Athletic Bilbao. (05.03.11) |
