Pichichis

What a week for our three teams in Europe, who clocked up no less than 14 goals in their respective competitions! Real Madrid started things off with a 4-0 win over Tottenham in the Champions League, ex Arsenal striker Adebayor returning to haunt the Spurs with a couple, and Di María and Ronaldo adding two more. And the following day Barcelona went one better with a 5-1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, Iniesta, Alves, Piqué, Keita and Xavi the scorers (none of the MVP front three this time!). Things didn't end there though, Villarreal matching Barça's result against Twente in the Europa League on Thursday, with Nilmar scoring two and Rossi another. Marchena and Valero had started things off earlier on.

The weekend was a bit of a let down after that, although in the end the 20 La Liga sides did manage to cobble together 25 goals between them. Kaká signalled his return to the Real Madrid side scoring two penalties before Cristiano Ronaldo came on to score a third against Athletic Bilbao, and Messi got a couple for Barcelona (including a penalty) in a 3-1 win over Almería. And later on Saturday evening Negredo also scored a penalty for Sevilla after Aki Ienaga had opened his account for Mallorca. The game ended 2-2. The big scorers of the weekend though were Valencia, who put neighbours Villarreal in their place with a 5-0 victory which strengthens their claim for third spot. Once again Soldado did the damage with two goals to add to the four he scored last weekend, Mata (2) and Banega completing the rout later on. Elsewhere Agüero returned from a one match ban to score Atlético's third at Real Sociedad, keeping his team on track for a place in Europe next season. (12.04.11)
