The so called "international virus" struck again this week, with Barcelona dropping points immediately after most of their squad returned from international duty. Guardiola left the likes of Messi, Villa and Iniesta on the bench at the start of the game at Real Sociedad, and although Xavi and Cesc put them two up early on, strikes from Agirretxe and Griezmann saved a point for the Basque side. Real Madrid too had a few problems against neighbours Getafe, with Miku getting a couple for the visitors, but two from Benzema, a Ronaldo penalty and another from Higuaín gave them a 4-2 victory in the end. Ronaldo leads the Liga Pichichi table with four goals, level with Soldado, who got the only goal for Valencia against Atlético Madrid. Elsewhere Negredo and Rossi took their tallies to three for the season after both scored in a 2-2 draw between Villarreal and Sevilla, and Cazorla is also on three as he and Joaquín scored two each a 4-0 drubbing of Granada on Monday. And on Sunday Rubén Castro got his second late winner in a row to take Betis to joint top spot, and Sergio García scored both goals as Espanyol beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1. (13.09.11)
