Not the greatest of weeks for Spanish sides in the Champions League, Real Madrid the only team to win thanks to goal from Di María at Dinamo Zagreb. Barcelona were held to a 2-2 draw by AC Milan in the Nou Camp, goals by Pedro and Villa not enough as the Italians scored in the first and last minute. Valencia could only draw as well, 0-0 at Genk, and Villarreal were beaten 0-2 by Bayern Munich. Better results though in Thursday's Europa League games, Susaeta and Muniain helping Athletic Bilbao to a 1-2 victory at Slovan Bratislava, and Falcao and Diego getting their first goals for Atlético Madrid in a 2-0 win over Celtic.

Some strange scorelines at the weekend, with 20 of the 26 goals coming in four games, and all the rest of the matches being decided by a single goal. Osasuna were the victims as Barcelona got back in to stride after their two draws, Messi scoring three, Villa two and Fàbregas and Xavi also on the scoresheet in an 8-0 drubbing. Falcao paid back a bit more of his mighty transfer fee with a hat-trick against Racing Santander (something Agüero, Forlán and company were unable to do in five years or more at home in the league), with Adrián rounding things off in a 4-0 win. And Luis García scored two for his new team Zaragoza against his old team Espanyol, and he missed a penalty in to the bargain as well. The biggest surprise of the 1-0s was Levante's win over Real Madrid thanks to a strike from Koné, and amongst the other scorers were Valencia's Soldado (his fifth in three games) and Sevilla's Kanouté.
