Fernando Llorente is a man on form right now, and he took his team to within a game of this year's cup final with both goals in a 1-2 win at lowly Mirandés. The cup's top Pichichi Pablo Infante didn't score this time, but Lambarri did in injury time to keep the second division B side in with an albeit slim chance of turning things around next week. The other cup finalist will come out of the semi-final tie between Valencia and Barcelona, with Guardiola's side having the slight edge thanks to Puyol, who leveled the scores at 1-1 after Jonas had given the Ches the lead.

A relatively low scoring weekend, with Real Madrid only scoring one (Ramos) and Barcelona two (Tello and Messi) in their respective matches. Both won though to increase the distance even further over the teams below them. As it was, not one of the eleven teams below them managed a victory this weekend, although there were some exciting games, such as the one between Athletic Bilbao and Espanyol, which ended 3-3. Llorente of course was one of the scorers. All of that meant that fourth placed Levante were let off the hook despite a 1-1 draw against Racing, Koné's goal not enough to turn around a worrying change of fortune which has seen them unable to win since the start of the new year. One team who did pick up the three points though were Rayo Vallecano, who sunk Zaragoza further down in to the mire with a 1-2 victory. New signing Diego Costa was one of the scorers, with the prolific Michu the other. (07.02.12)
