Leo Messi is hitting new heights every season, and although he is still only 24 years old, he is already Barcelona's all-time top goalscorer. The previous record dates back over 40 years to the mythical César, but a hat-trick on Tuesday night in a 5-3 win against Granada took him on to 234 goals, two more than César's tally. Messi has already scored as many goal this season as he did last, and he moves one above Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for the Liga Pichichi after the Real Madrid forward "only" got one against Villarreal midweek (incidentally, his 100th for his club). It was a high scoring midweek round of games though, with 36 in all, the second highest of the season. Xavi also scored in Barça's victory, taking him to his best ever total of 14 for the current campaign, and elsewhere there were braces for Falcao and Rondón as Atlético Madrid and Málaga put in their bids for the European spots. A strike from Koné kept Levante in fourth spot however, and Rubén Castro also got his name on the scoresheet as Betis picked up another point against Espanyol to help them inch away from the danger zone.
