What an amazing week for La Liga sides in Europe! All five made it through to their respective semi-finals, and the possibilities of two all-Spanish finals are looking good! On Tuesday Barcelona beat AC Milan 3-1 to go through, Messi converting two penalties to take his tally in the competition to 14 this season, and Iniesta added a third after the restart. And on Wednesday Real Madrid cruised to a 5-2 win over APOEL Nicosia, with Ronaldo scoring two and Kaká, Callejón and Di María adding the rest. On Thursday it was the turn of our Europa League sides, and Valencia had no problems overturning a first leg defeat at AZ Alkmaar, Rami netting twice and Jordi Alba and Pablo Hernández adding two more in a 4-0 victory. Valencia will play Atlético Madrid, who beat Hannover 1-2 with strikes by Adrián and Falcao, and Athletic Bilbao are also through to the last four after a 2-2 draw against Raúl's Schalke, with Ibai Gómez and Susaeta the scorers.

Lots of goals on Saturday in the league, with Barcelona coming back from one down to beat Zaragoza 1-4. Messi got two of those, including his fourth penalty in eight days, to take his total for the season to an incredible 60! Rayo Vallecano were the highest scorers though, Michu getting two more as Sandoval's side thrashed Osasuna 6-0, and Rubén Castro was on target again as Betis beat Villarreal 3-1 to virtually ensure another season in the top flight. Sunday started well as well, with Valdo and Koné bagging two for Levante in the first ten minutes of their mid-day kick-off against Atlético. After that however the goals dried up and Athletic's Llorente was the only one to score in the next 350 minutes of football, which included 90 frantic minutes in the Bernabeu between Real Madrid and Valencia. The 0-0 draw there has thrown the title race wide open, and with two matches this week and the "clásico" in the Nou Camp in two weeks' time (either side of the Champions League semi-finals), the next few days may decide the fate of the league.
