No midweek fixtures were scheduled for this week, although Betis and Atlético took advantage of the pause to play out the league game postponed from day 3. And despite going behind twice, Atlético ran out 2-4 winners to move up to second in the table. Once again Falcao was the man to do the damage, and his brace (including a penalty) takes him on to seven for the season in the league, one more even than living legend Messi! Diego Costa and Raúl García were the other scorers for Simeone's side, with Agra and Juan Carlos netting for the hosts.

Falcao was carrying an injury though and he missed out on the weekend game at Espanyol, Raúl García carrying out the goalscoring duties in his absence in a 0-1 victory. The Colombian striker still tops the league charts however after Messi failed to score for once, and Cristiano Ronaldo joins the Barça forward on six goals after helping himself to a hat-trick in a 5-1 win against Deportivo. Di María and Pepe got the other two, with Madrid old boy Riki opening the scoring for the Galicians. Madrid visit the Nou Camp next weekend, but they stay eight points behind their eternal rivals after the Catalans staged the comeback of the season at Sevilla, Fàbregas scoring twice and Villa getting the winner in injury time after Trochowski and Negredo had given the Andalusians a two goal lead. It was a high scoring weekend though, Valladolid leading the charge with six against Rayo, including two each for Manucho and Oscar González. Osasuna and Málaga both won 4-0, with Saviola and Isco both on target for Pellegrini's side, and Valencia's Feghouli got his name on the scoresheet before picking up a red card in a 2-0 victory against Zaragoza.
