Wins for three of the Spanish sides in this week's Champions League fixtures, with Iniesta and Jordi Alba on target as Barça beat Celtic 2-1, Soldado helping himself to a hat-trick in Valencia's 0-3 win at BATE Borisov, and Joaquín making up for a penalty miss (for the second time in four days!) with the winning goal in Málaga's 1-0 victory over AC Milan. Real Madrid just can't get it together in Germany though, where they have only won once in 25 games, and although Ronaldo scored, they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Borussia Dortmund. Thursday's Europa League matches saw Levante beat Steve McClaren's Twente 3-0 (Michel pen, Pedro Ríos 2), and Atlético Madrid made it sixteen wins in a row in Europe after a 2-1 victory at home to Académica Coimbra (Diego Costa, Emre). Athletic Bilbao failed again though, an Ibai Gómez strike not enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat at Olympique Lyon.

Five apiece for Barcelona and Real Madrid at the weekend, Messi 2 (the 300th and 301st of his career!), Villa, Xavi and Fàbregas scoring for the Blaugrana at Rayo, and Higuaín 2, Ronaldo 2 and Callejón netting for the Merengues at Mallorca. With the midweek goal, Ronaldo edges ahead of Messi in our "all competitions" table, although Falcao is just behind after scoring the last of Atlético's three against Osasuna. Raúl García was also on target in that match against his old club, and elsewhere there were two for Levante's Martins, and one each for San José (Athletic), Postiga (Zaragoza) and Oscar (Valladolid).
