Real Madrid made it through to the quarter finals of the Champions League after coming from behind to beat Manchester United 1-2 in Old Trafford! The scorers were Modric and Ronaldo, who didn't celebrate his goal as a mark of respect for his old side. Valencia are out though after losing to Paris Saint Germain 2-3 on aggregate, a strike from Jonas in the return leg in France not quite enough to save the day. Levante are the only Spanish side left in the Europa League, and their continued presence in the competition is in in doubt after they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Rubin Kazan on Thursday.

Very few goals in the league at the weekend, although Messi and Ronaldo kept up their eternal battle for the Pichichi. La Liga's two "immortals" both found the net, Messi coming on for the last half to wrap things up against Deportivo on Saturday, thereby extending his scoring record to seventeen straight league games, and Ronaldo getting both of Real Madrid's goals in a 1-2 victory at Celta on Sunday to take his side up to second in the table. Iago Aspas levelled it briefly for the Galicians. Elsewhere Jorge Molina and Rubén Castro helped Betis to a 2-1 win over Osasuna, and Piti was on target as Rayo beat Espanyol 2-0. Finally Manucho saved a point for Valladolid with the equaliser against Málaga, but Negredo's strike was not enough to prevent Sevilla from losing 2-1 at Mallorca. (12.03.13)
