No less than twelve goals in the two mid-week matches brought forward from week 36, with Real Madrid thrashing Málaga 6-2, and fellow cup finalists Atlético Madrid beating Celta 1-3. Ronaldo, Özil and Benzema were amongst the scorers for Madrid, with Santa Cruz replying for the visitors, and Diego Costa and Falcao were on target for Atleti.

Not so many goals at the weekend though, with only 19 in the ten games of week 35. For once Messi didn't get on the scorecard, and it seems his season is over after he limped off with a leg injury in the match at Atlético Madrid. An Alexis strike and a Gabi own goal were enough to overturn Falcao's early goal for the locals, but they needn't have bothered as Madrid's draw at Espanyol the day before (Stuani / Higuaín) meant that Barça were confirmed as league champions anyway.

The first three are now sure of finishing in that order, but fourth place is still between Valencia and Real Sociedad, with Soldado netting twice in the former's 0-4 win at Rayo on Sunday lunchtime, and Agirretxe getting both goals for the Basque side the following day in a 2-2 draw against Granada. Rubén Castro got his first goal in four games as Betis beat Celta 1-0 to close in on the Europa League spots, and Aduríz got his first in six to ensure that Athletic keep up their ever-present record in the top flight.
