Great results for Spanish sides in the European play-off rounds, with first leg wins for all three clubs. Real Sociedad were first up, and they moved a step closer to the league stage with a 0-2 victory at Olympique Lyon, Griezmann and Seferovic scoring two goals which must already be candidates for goal of the year. On Thursday it was the turn of the two Sevilla based sides in the Europa League play-offs, Molina and Cedrick scoring for Betis in a 1-2 victory at Jablonec, and Rakitic, Marin (2) and Gameiro getting the goals for Sevilla as they beat Slask Wroclaw 4-1. The first leg of the spanish Supercup took place on Wednesday as well, David Villa and Neymar getting their first official goals for their new clubs as Atlético Madrid and Barcelona drew 1-1.

With Messi out injured again, Cristiano Ronaldo yet to put on his scoring boots and Falcao sunning it in Mónaco, Diego Costa and Rodri are our early leaders in the Pichichi chart. Costa got his third of the season in 5-0 drubbing of neighbours Rayo Vallecano, Raúl García scoring twice as well, and Rodri also scored for a third time for Almería in a 2-2 draw at Getafe. Five teams have won their opening two games, Barça, Atlético, Real Madrid, Athletic and Villarreal, Benzema getting Madrid's only goal in a 0-1 win at Granada, and Giovani putting Villarreal on track for 2-1 victory against Valladolid with a penalty.
