Cristiano Ronaldo is back on top of our Pichichi chart! The Real Madrid striker netted twice this week, the first together with Marcelo in a 0-2 Champions League victory at Schalke on Wednesday, and the second in a similar win at Elche on Sunday. Benzema got the other goal in that game, and with that he has now scored against all 29 teams he has played against in the top flight, something that only Ronaldo and Messi have achieved so far. Madrid’s win takes them 4 points clear of Barcelona, who were surprisingly beaten 0-1 by Málaga on Saturday evening. That allowed Atlético to move to within three points of Luis Enrique’s team, a Mandzukic penalty and a brace from Griezmann in the first half hour giving them a comfortable 3-0 victory over Almería.

Valencia consolidated fourth spot after a 1-2 win at Córdoba, and they are now five points clear of Sevilla, who were beaten 4-3 by Real Sociedad. A Bacca header and a Gameiro penalty did put the Andalusians in front at one point, although they lost it in the end. Villarreal are now just a point behind Sevilla after they won 1-0 against Eibar, Vietto getting the only goal. Elsewhere Larrivey was on target as Celta beat local rivals Deportivo 0-2, and Aduríz got a late winner for Athletic Bilbao against Rayo Vallecano. Aduríz was rested for Thursday’s Europa League tie at Torino, but Athletic still managed a 2-2 draw, and there were home victories for the other two Spanish teams in the competition, Sevilla beating Borussia Moenchengladbach 1-0, and Villarreal winning 2-1 against Salzburg.
