All eyes after the international break were on the latest “clásico” in the Bernabeu stadium, and what a game it was, Barcelona beating Real Madrid 0-4 to move six points clear of their arch-rival at the top of the table! Luis Enrique decided not to risk Messi at the start, but Luis Suárez netted twice and Neymar and Iniesta once each to leave their opponents down and out. Suárez moves level with Aduríz at the top of our chart and Neymar is just a goal behind them in third spot, the first time in ages that neither Messi nor Ronaldo are in the top three places.

Elsewhere the Spanish strikers kept up their good form, Lucas Pérez finding the net in Deportivo’s 2-0 win over Galician neighbours Celta, Agirretxe opening the scoring for Real Sociedad against Sevilla to give new coach Eusebio a first win, and Paco Alcácer helping himself to his fifth in four games, albeit that his side Valencia only drew 1-1 with Las Palmas in the end. Two new players in our chart this week as well, Espanyol’s Hernán Pérez and Levante’s Deyverson notching up a brace each as their respective sides clocked up important wins against Málaga and Sporting.
