A thrilling round of midweek matches, the top three all winning on Wednesday night to stay within a point of each other in the table. Leaders Barcelona had lost three in a row before this, but they made up for it in style, Luis Suárez scoring four and setting up goals for Rakitic, Messi and Neymar as they ran out 0-8 victors in the end! Atlético are still level with the Catalans though after they beat Athletic 0-1, Fernando Torres scoring for the fourth game in a row, and Real Madrid are a point behind them after a 3-0 win over Villarreal, Benzema starting things off in the Bernabeu stadium. Two more hat-tricks elsewhere as well, Valencia’s Paco Alcácer finally getting his scoring boots on in a 4-0 victory against Eibar (all three of his coming in the first half), and El-Arabi converting two penalties and adding a third as Granada beat fellow strugglers Levante 5-1 to move back out of the drop zone. Iago Aspas also added to his tally, the striker scoring the opener in a 1-1 draw at Espanyol which keeps the Galicians on track for a place in Europe next season. (24.04.16)
