First division football returned this weekend after the short international break, Piatti scoring the first of week three’s 33 goals in a 1-1 draw at Real Sociedad on Friday night. One piece of good news for La Liga fans though is that Cristiano Ronaldo is back after his injury lay-off, and it only took him six minutes to get off the mark in Saturday’s game against Osasuna! Sergio Ramos was also amongst the scorers as Real Madrid cruised to a record equaling 15 th straight victory in the league. They are now clear leaders after Barcelona’s surprise 1-2 defeat at home to Alavés; Luis Enrique will think twice about leaving Luis Suárez and Messi on the bench in the future! Las Palmas also dropped their first points of the season after they were beaten 2-1 by Sevilla, but only thanks to a Sarabia penalty and a strike by youngster Carlos Fernández in the last four minutes of the game! The Andalusians are now second, level on points with Sporting Gijón, who beat Leganés 2-1 thanks in part to a Duje Cop penalty. And Eibar join Las Palmas and Barcelona on six points after a 1-2 win at Granada, Pedro León one of the scorers again there. Atlético Madrid are closing up on the leaders though after they beat Celta 0-4, Griezmann helping himself to a brace, and two goals as well for Rubén Castro as Betis won 2-3 at Valencia, the veteran striker now topping our Pichichi chart as result.
